We are now offering two types of day camps for children ages 9 to 12: a week-long River Kids day camp for $240 per child a Crew for Day camp for $30 per child The week-long day River Kids camp, will be held August 3rd through 7th from 9 AM to 3 PM. For a change of pace, the gundalow Piscataqua will be at the River House Restaurant dock this Saturday night to Sunday, with 2 sails scheduled from the River House on Sunday, June 29. The first sail will be a short 1 hour and 15 minute sail upriver at 12PM , while the second sail will be a 3-hour upriver sail at 2PM. These sails take you under two Portsmouth bridges passing the towns of Portsmouth, Kittery, Newington and Eliot. The nonprofit Gundalow Company is excited to announce its new partnership with the Porsmouth Science Café and the Portsmouth Brewery for our summer Contemporary Coastal Issues program aboard the gundalow Piscataqua on Wednesday evenings. Like the Gundalow’s Coastal Issues program, the Portsmouth Science Cafe provides an opportunity for the public to learn about contemporary science issues from leading experts in a relaxed setting at the Portsmouth Brewery. These gatherings are held monthly at the Portsmouth Brewery October though April. This spring, over 45 classes are participating in school sails aboard the gundalow Piscataqua, a reproduction of the traditional wooden vessel operated by the nonprofit Gundalow Company. Sailing aboard this “floating classroom,” students engage in interactive activities including setting the sail, steering the vessel, learning to navigate, towing for plankton, and exploring human impact on the environment. The students also learn about the storied maritime heritage of the Piscataqua Region. The Gundalow Company is currently taking school reservations for September and October. Private Charter Information The Gundalow Company is pleased to offer private charters aboard the gundalow Piscataqua, which departs from our dock at Prescott Park in Porstmouth, New Hampshire. The Piscataqua seats 42 passengers and is operated by a USCG licensed captain and three crew members with over 40 years of combined sailing experience. The boat is 63’LOA, has a draft of 2.5 feet, and is a traditional reproduction of the gundalow sailboats that were utilized from the seventeenth through the twentieth century to transport goods between the shallow waters of inland towns and the deep water port of Portsmouth.
