Ocean Classroom Aboard the Harvey Gamage Matt Glenn has worked in the tall ship fleet since 2003, sailing the Atlantic, Pacific, Great Lakes, and Caribbean before coming to the Gundalow Company in 2012. Sail for Epilepsy: Sailing with a Purpose at the STAR Theatre Listen to the fascinating story of one man’s offshore sailing experiences and how he pursues these adventures despite having a disability. Phil Haydon is an experienced short-handed sailor who has successfully completed the Bermuda 1-2 three times and crossed the Atlantic Ocean. He has started the non-profit organization Sail For Epilepsy with a mission to inspire people with epilepsy to take One More Step towards achieving a fuller life, with the necessary safety measures in place. Attention Homeschool Families! Please help us spread the word about our THREE homeschool sail programs, open to all, this spring! Step aboard the Gundalow and head out on the Piscataqua River for an exciting 2 hour education sail. While on-board, participants will set the sail, steer the vessel, learn to navigate, tow for plankton, and explore the human impact on our watershed. Joan Slavin Rice of Portsmouth, N.H., passed away on March 4, 2024, after a four-year struggle with ovarian cancer. Born December 29, 1948, in Boston, Joan’s mother, Leona Bruck Slavin, was intelligent, fashionable, and beautiful. She was an active volunteer and president of the Watertown (Ma.) League of Women Voters. Lee also passed away from cancer when Joan was 10. Her father, Robert M. Slavin, was left as sole parent. He was a rocket scientist working for Aerospace Instrumention Lab in Bedford, Ma. Major project credits included the lunar module. Throughout her life Joan would encompass her mother’s beauty and […]

By the waterfront, the Gundalow PISCATAQUA offers harbor sails from Prescott Park, down the namesake river past the shipyard, forts, and lighthouses. New this year, visiting boats from the US Coast Guard and the Wood Island Life Saving Station will be dockside for tours as well.
