Join the Gundalow Company with Emily Hazelwood and Amber Sparks from Blue Latitudes as we host a live virtual presentation: Rigs-to-Reefs provides an alternative to complete rig removal in which an oil company chooses to modify a platform so that it can continue to support marine life as an artificial reef. Through this decommissioning process, the oil well is capped and the upper 85 feet of the platform is either towed, toppled in place, or removed. The platforms undergo extensive ecological evaluations to assess their potential value to add to the local ecosystem. Thursday April 9th 2020 Stream starts at […]
GUNDALOW ROLES York Harbor, Maine, residents Joey and Carol Donnelly wear, and have worn, many different hats for The Gundalow Company. For example, Joey is a founding Trustee and served as The Gundalow Company’s Chairman from 2002-2009. Currently he serves on the Development Committee and as a ‘sometime’ crew member aboard the Piscataqua gundalow.

During the winter, the Gundalow Piscataqua stays in the water. We build a winter weather cover on top, and frequently check underneath to make sure all is well. Step aboard with Captain Matt to see what it looks like under the cover! Subscribe to our you tube channel for more videos like this.

Gundalow Guardians Bob Kozman (left) and Ed Caylor, both residents of Portsmouth, have been volunteering their time and elbow grease protecting the Piscataqua for four and six winters, respectively. They check bilges, docklines, and the cover on a regular basis, and especially after winter storms, when they shovel snow off the gangway and dock. “Bob and Ed are two of our most dedicated long-term volunteers,“ says Captain Matt Glenn.
Do you love spending time on the water? Are you passionate about maritime heritage or the environment? Do you want to help us share this message with campers and the public? The Gundalow Company will offer two apprentice programs during the summer of 2020 for high school students to develop new skills either as a Gundalow Apprentice or a Gundalow Camp Apprentice.
The selected design will be displayed on festival t-shirts, the website, all marketing materials, festival program and more!
