‘BlueFuture®’ funding will be used to support Gundalow’s 2020 ‘floating classroom,’ which is expected to serve 2500+ maritime region students this spring and summer
PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Feb. 27, 2020 — The Gundalow Company, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect the Piscataqua Region’s maritime heritage and environment through education and action, announced today that it has received a $1500 grant from The West Marine BlueFuture Fund at Community Foundation Santa Cruz County (BlueFuture®). The grant will be used to support Gundalow’s youth education programs this spring and summer 2020.
Last season Gundalow Company provided innovative educational opportunities to more than 2,500 Piscataqua Region students aboard its floating classroom, the historic gundalow replica Piscataqua.
“We are proud to support Gundalow Company’s essential educational programming for actualizing the next generation of river and bay stewards,” said Aaron Carpenter, Chief Marketing Officer, West Marine, a national company whose New Hampshire retail stores are located in Portsmouth and Seabrook.
“Financial backing from West Marine and other institutions and individuals permit us to fortify our educational efforts on behalf of the children and adolescents of the Piscataqua Region,” said Donata Luz, Development Coordinator for Gundalow Company.
