Gundalow Company is launching a new annual event with a boat show, boat race, and more!
The non-profit Gundalow Company is excited to announce the first annual Piscataqua Riverfest in partnership with Strawbery Banke. Held on June 1st, 2019, this new event combines the very best of Portsmouth’s waterfront: The Round Island Regatta boat race at Peirce Island; a traditional boat show exhibiting gorgeous boats at Strawbery Banke Museum; harbor sails on the gundalow Piscataqua; an evening gala with local food; the Changing Nature exhibit in the Sheafe Warehouse; maritime demonstrations for all ages; and special deals throughout the region.
Seacoast residents and visitors alike are invited to join the celebration on land and on the river, promoting the health and beauty of the Piscataqua Region. The Piscataqua region’s complex river system is surrounded by people and organizations working hard to protect it, and their stewardship makes Portsmouth a top destination for exhibiting the rich maritime heritage.
“Portsmouth has nearly 400 years of stories and opportunities and this festival is our way of reaching everyone to help us celebrate this unique place.” said Rich Clyborne, Executive Director at Gundalow Company. “Whether you want to see wooden hand built boats, watch a fun boat race, or see maritime demonstrations in action, the Piscataqua Riverfest is not to be missed.”
Entrance in the Piscataqua Riverfest is $15 for adults and $8 for children, with discounts available to members, military, and seniors. Partners around the region are offering special one-day discounts to Riverfest guests at museums, restaurants, and activities also celebrating our rivers on Saturday.
